How do I join Rockfic.com?
Register using the link at the end of this answer--you will not be asked to provide any payment
information. It's truly a no-risk free trial.
After you register, you'll receive an activation email (so give a working
email address!). Click the link in the email to activate your account. Once
your account is activated, you have full acess to the site for 48 hours.
When your 48 hours are up, you will no longer have access to the fiction
archive but you'll still be able to use the message board and participate
in chats. If you want to continue to have access to the fiction archive,
log in, go to "Your Stuff" and purchase a one year or lifetime
subscription.
Register here.
How much does it cost to join Rockfic.com?
Rockfic.com memberships are free. With that membership you get
access to our message board (with band news, tour info, photos, writing
discussion and more). Access to the band fiction archive is $2/year
or $20 for a lifetime (99 years).
What about this "free trial" thing?
We give all new members a 48-hour
free trial of the fiction archive. You will be required to enter absolutely
no payment information to enjoy this trial. It will automatically
expire at the end of 48 hours. You will not be charged for anything.
If you want to continue to access the archive after your free trial
runs
out, you'll be able
to purchase
a subscription
at any time during or after the trial.
What forms of payment do you accept?
PayPal or check/money order in U.S. funds. Make checks and money orders
payable to "Rockfic Press" and mail to Rockfic Press, 21 Apple Tree
Way, Asheville, NC 28805, USA. Be sure to include your Rockfic.com
user name or we won't know who to apply the payment to. (You have to
register as a member before you can pay for a subscription, so if you
don't have a username now, you will need to register and get one. Registering
also gets you the 48-hour free trial so you can make sure our archive
is worth your $2.)
How do you handle renewals?
We do not automatically charge your PayPal account when your subscription
runs out. You will have to go to "Your Stuff" and make a payment
yourself. We hope that after you've enjoyed it around here for a
year, you'll think it's worth getting another year (or maybe
a lifetime subscription), but we do prefer to leave it up to you to
make that decision.
Who can join Rockfic.com?
We welcome anyone age 18 & over.
Why is Rockfic.com for adults only?
We could lie and say we do this to avoid being sued by parents,
but the truth is that Rockfic.com members enjoy the maturity level found
on our message boards, in our chats, and on our story archive (both
in terms of the
quality of writing and
the
quality of
reader feedback). There are millions of places on the Internet
for teenagers to hang out; this isn't one of them. We immediately
suspend any account found to be held by a minor.
What are Rockfic.com's rules?
There aren't many, but you should know these things before
signing up:
- Don't scam the 48-hour free trial system. We'll catch you (yes we
will!), and we'll suspend all your accounts. Good luck talking us into
letting you back on, even if you flash us the measley two bucks you
were too cheap to spend in the first place.
- Don't use chatspeak ("ur 2 kewl 4 wrdz!") or l33t on the message
boards or when leaving story feedback.
- Don't be an asshat.
- If you're going to post stories, take the submission requirements
seriously; it saves everyone (especially you!) a lot of frustration.
If you don't
understand any part of the requirements, hit the message boards or
PM any admin or moderator and ask.
