What is 'band fiction'? Band fiction is both product and part of an ongoing
conversation between (mainly female) fans of a band or style of music.
It's not the result of our conversation; it's an extension of it,
a place we go when the language of nonfiction is not malleable enough
to convey our thoughts and ideas. Sex is often a topic of our conversation,
but
so
are love, loss, hope, insecurity, frustration, joy, addiction, disappointment,
ego, failure, success....
Those who write band fiction use their favorite bands to tell others what
they think—not only what they think of the bands they're writing about
but also what they think of themselves, their culture and their world.
Band fiction comes in all varieties--science fiction, horror, fantasy,
erotica ('het'), gay erotica ('slash'), westerns...you
name it! If you haven't read band fiction, give it a try. If you haven't
written band fiction, we encourage you to give that a try, too.
You may be used to archives and Livejournal communities where the stories
posted are riddled with errors, badly formatted, and difficult to read.
Rockfic.com has minimum quality standards to ensure that at the very least
the stories archived here are well formatted, spell checked and properly
punctuated. Overall, the quality of the stories, beyond the technical
considerations, tends to also be higher here than at the average fiction
archive or Livejournal fiction community. But don't take our word for
it--register today and check out the archive with our 48-hour, no strings
attached free trial.
